EP3 & Travel Tryouts 2026/2027 Season

Q: When and where are tryouts?

Tryouts

Q: What are tryouts?

A: SPFSC utilizes tryouts to identify and assess the talent of players who would like to be considered for an EP3 or Travel team roster spot.

Q: What is the difference between EP3 and Travel?

A: EP3 and Travel are the two select programs within SPFSC. EP3 is comprised of those teams playing at our highest level of play. By attending tryouts at the dates and times listed above you will be eligible, and evaluated, for both programs (i.e, the two programs will not have separate tryouts).

Q: Who is eligible to tryout?

A: Anyone born between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2019. You do not have to be a current SPFSC player to participate. You do not have to be a Scotch Plains or Fanwood resident to participate.

Q: Do I have to attend both sessions?

A: Though not mandatory, attending both sessions is strongly encouraged, as it provides our team of evaluators a greater sample size to assess. We are aware of certain conflicts and have done our best to work around them. We understand, however, that certain conflicts will remain. To the extent your child cannot attend a full session, we encourage him/her to attend as much of the session as his/her time permits. Your child will not be penalized if he/she is unable to attend a particular session or any portion thereof.

Q: With the new “grade year” designations, which tryout session should my child attend?

A: Unless notified otherwise (which notification will be no later than March 10th), please have your child attend the tryout sessions that correspond to his/her birth date regardless of what grade he/she is in or the team for which he/she currently plays.

Q: Do I have to register?

A: YES! Anyone who wishes to try out for EP3 or Travel must register. Registration is free and can be easily completed by clicking here.
